Can someone please just congratulate me on my success
Hi guys, this rant might sound childish and selfish and this may be worded really messily but I really needed to get it out of my system once and for all.
I recently found out that I passed for the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship but when I went to check if my friends passed, I saw that they didn’t so as to let them save face, I decided not to tell them directly (I felt that if I did bring it up it’d be like rubbing salt in their wound..)
I’m not really the type to brag about achievements because I feel like I’d sound like I want to be above others even if it isn’t my intention, but I just wanted someone to tell me that they were proud of me. I’m not one to count but I noticed that the only people who congratulated me on this accomplishment of mine were my parents. I love my family I really do but I just felt so… dismissed when I told my grandparents about this and they said “Oh your cousin got the scholarship too.” To which I of course congratulated him for it but it came off to me as if they were saying something along the lines of “Get off of your high horse.” I know they never said that but I still feel that way and it honestly made me feel so terrible.
I thought that if I told my adviser he’d congratulate me too because he used to be such a reliable adult for me back when I was still in high school, but instead he too only said “[Batchmate] also got the scholarship.” while his friend, my calc teacher laughed (I think I may be feeling too much but it just felt as if he was mocking me….)
My heads a mess I just really wanted someone to congratulate me and help me validate the hardships I went through to get this scholarship.
I know that this is such a shallow problem but it’s just been taking up so much of my mind I needed to vent this out somewhere anonymously where no one knows me.
I really want to edit this paragraph because I’m not sure if it makes much sense but my head feels so messy right now
