624 people viewed my profile. I can see zero names.

Not because ***LinkedIn*** cant show me. Because LinkedIn wont show me until I pay.

They counted every visitor. Stored every name. Then blurred every face and put a discount button underneath. That single UI decision tells you everything you need to know about how this company sees its users.

You are not the customer. You are the product being squeezed until you become the customer.

I did a full ***UX audit*** on LinkedIn this week and scored it 43 out of 100. But honestly the number isn't the interesting part. The interesting part is what I realised halfway through.

LinkedIn doesn't have bad UX.

It has perfect UX. Perfect for making you feel like your profile is never complete enough. Perfect for making you feel like everyone else is getting promoted while you're standing still. Perfect for making you feel like 624 people are interested in you but you're too poor to find out who.

Every single one of those feelings has a Premium upgrade attached to it.

The profile completeness bar that never hits 100 for free users. The notification badge full of non events designed to pull you back into the app. The "who viewed your profile" blur that turns your own professional data into a paywall. The Easy Apply button that takes 11 minutes and calls itself easy.

These went through design reviews. They were A/B tested. Someone looked at data showing users felt anxious and inadequate and said yes, ship it, that anxiety converts.

LinkedIn paid $13 million for spamming users contacts and didn't change the underlying philosophy. They just got more subtle.

This is a platform built on professional trust and reputation. Your career lives here because you have no real alternative. And they know that. The whole monetisation strategy depends on it.

But failed implies they were trying to do the right thing and fell short.

They weren't.

LinkedIn is intentionally designed to make you feel inadequate. The blur, the anxiety, the broken inbox. None of it is a mistake. It's the business model.
