I need to get my feelings hurt more often!! How to achieve this!

I'm a 20-year-old female, and for most of my life I've been good at the things I've chosen to pursue. I've always done well in school, been pretty socially charismatic, excelled in things I presued, and people generally come to me for advice.

so, as a result, I'm not very used to failure, being wrong, or having people tell me I can't do something.

Recently I've rolled around the idea of becoming a police officer. I posted on a police subreddit and got a lot of negative comments, including some outright misogynistic ones telling me that women like me aren't cut out for the job. Whether they're right or wrong isn't really the point though

The point is that I realized those comments bothered me more than they should have. I found myself ranting in the shower "who does this guy think he is, he doesn't even know me!"

But if I become a police officer, people are going to insult me, disrespect me, and say things that are completely unfair, personal, and rude. I don't want random strangers to have that much power over my thoughts. And I want to be a level headed, fair, and emotionally composed police officer if i choose that route.

So how do you develop thicker skin? and I'm not talking about constructive criticism. I'm talking about someone attacking who you are as a person and being able to think, "I don't know this person, their opinion doesn't define me," and then genuinely move on without a second thought about it.
