Ability leveling

Not to be that guy who says smite should mimic other MOBAs but after playing some deadlock the ability leveling there is infinitely more fun. The vast majority of abilities in smite just get a little extra damage when leveled up or a slight CC strength/duration increase. Deadlock has some of those as levels but generally it also adds new functions.
