*"Those things are still out there…"*

The Geist spoke.

Even with my bayonet fixed near his temple, he carried on as though he scarcely noticed.

*"Seems to me we could come to an arrangement. Better than skittering about like blasted rats waiting to be picked off."*

He glanced out into the dark.

*"And if we make it through… then that's the end of it. You go back to your lot, I go back to mine."*

I gave a short scoff at his "proposal".

*"A Geist talking compromise? That's a new one. Whats next* — The Queen's suddenly dead?:*"*

I kept the shotgun trained on him.

*"I've seen what those Jaeger shites do. Especially Geists like you* — *the worst of the lot..."*

Still…

I weighed it.

Those things out there—those damn devils—

No life in them. Just stumbling rotting faces wearing the likeness of our dead and theirs alike.

Whatever they were, they weren't choosing sides.

I let out a breath and lowered the barrel.

*"Very well. I'll take you at your word."*

I fixed him with a look.

*"But mind me—if you try anything clever…"*

A pause.

*"You'll answer for it like the fiolthy sinner you are."*

The Geist gave a quiet nod.

*"Fair enough."*

I turned and began walking.

*"Right then. Let's get moving."*
