The games has so much potential
I’ve been playing Goals for a bit this past week, and after merely 9hrs, there are quite a few problems that are easy to outline, but also, and it’s super important, a lot of good parts.
- The attacking runs and in general how the team structures itself in attack is great, but it’s mostly due to:
- The defensive structure. It’s awful. The full backs don’t do anything unless a winger is there (they don’t shift centrally like they should), the centre backs leave gaps and don’t cover each other at all, which is really a shame because it makes defending a game of luck, hoping the next point will play in your favor, that point being:
- Passing is completely broken. The passing in the game is decided solely based on the direction of your left stick, locking onto a player seemingly regardless of the power used (unless you use the least or most amount of power possible) and also oftentimes the wrong player. This is unlike other games, namely FIFA who’s done a great job with passing, where you can choose the passing assistance level, and both the manual and slightly assisted levels are just you passing into the space, the assist only slightly directing it near a player. This is how it should be.
All of these issues have solutions, and with a really great base to build on, if these are polished the game could really elevate to higher levels.
Thank you.
