Do I have to attend church to have a relationship with God?
Hi everyone. I’m 14 years old and I have a question about church and faith.
When I was born, my family used to go to church until I was about 3 or 4 years old, but then something happened and we stopped going. Now, after 10 years, we have recently started attending church again. To be honest, I only have a little bit of childhood knowledge about God and the Bible, and I had never really thought about choosing a religion before.
However, during the past few days of going to church, I felt a genuine desire to believe in God and follow Him. But there’s a problem: I really don’t comfortable with the kids my age at this specific church. Being around them honestly makes me not want to go there anymore.
So my question is: Do I absolutely have to go to church to study the Bible and believe in God? Would it be okay if, at least while I'm a teenager (until I'm 18), I learn on my own without going to church? I want to pray, read the Bible, and keep Sundays holy as God’s day by myself.
Once I grow up and become more independent, I want to have the freedom to choose a church that truly feels right for me. Is it okay to practice my faith this way for now? Thank you.
