Does anyone else feel like the 'interview style' podcast is getting stale?

General Podcast Discussions

I've been a heavy listener for a few years now, but lately I'm noticing a massive wave of fatigue with the standard long-form interview format. It feels like every single new show hitting the charts is just two people sitting in a dark room with high-end mics, asking the same five predictable questions to a guest who has already done the press circuit for that specific topic. I used to love the deep dives, but now it's hard to find shows that actually have a unique structure or a narrative thread that isn't just 'tell us your life story.' I find myself reaching for scripted audio dramas or highly edited investigative series just to feel something different. Are there any shows left that actually feel experimental with the format, or is everything just moving toward this monolithic, low-effort conversational style?
