Son may move to Thunder Bay from Toronto

Just wondering about prospect and cons of living in the area. What is the average population age? What do people do for socializing- esp if you do not know a soul in the area? My son is 23 years old -not a very outdoors type - likes nature but hes not one to hike or canoe etc. Just wondering as this will be a big transition.
