This is Who You Are

For those who feel lost, dissociated, frustrated, or emotional about their appearance — here’s something that might help ground you when everything feels surreal.

First, look in a mirror without emotion, bias, or opinion. Look yourself in the eyes for a moment and realize the person staring back is you. That’s who’s been here the whole time.

Then look away from the mirror. Look down at your hands and feet without judgment, pride, or ego. This is your body. This is your reality. No one else’s. Own it.

Stop the constant “I wish” or “I want” loop — that just adds unnecessary stress. Accept yourself as you are right now: the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the average. That’s you. That’s your person.

There’s respect and common decency toward others, but it has to start with you. You have two feet, a heartbeat, and the ability to experience life. Some people don’t. That alone is worth appreciating.

Change because you want to change — not because someone else thinks you should look or feel better. Take responsibility for who you are. You’re alive and living. That’s the big picture.

If you can look yourself in the eyes and accept the person you see — flaws, strengths, and everything in between — then you’re doing alright.

I’m a 5’9” average guy. Not especially good-looking, not bad-looking. Just average. I was once 6'1", now I’m a little shorter and heavier. But I’m still here. I look myself in the eyes and appreciate that this is who I’ve always been — from birth to now. The good, the bad, and the ugly of it all.

Hopefully this helps anyone struggling to understand or accept themselves.

Sincerely,

Beastie_1323
