Troubleshooting milk supply
What the title says…
I’m honestly annoyed and at a loss.
So for the last two weeks (I actually only looked at the calendar last night and realized this issue that’s seemed so much longer has only been going on for two weeks) I’ve had a dip in my milk supply. I’m a just enougher, which is fine by me as long as I can feed my baby through the day. I’ve gone from 5-7 oz per pump from both breast (mostly 5 ounces at most but occasionally 7) to 1-3 oz and maybe 4 if I’m lucky. So I’ve had to dig in my small freezer stash and supplement with formula.
With that said I’m leaning towards two possible culprits.
-
Pump parts needing to be replaced- easy to do being that I only have to order them which has been done
-
An “attempting period”
Now I’ve had a regular cycle allllll my life. If nothing else in my life has been constant, my period has. My period came back at 6 weeks with my first baby. I was breast feeding but not solely breastfeeding like I am now. My period came back at 6 weeks recently. However I had no period for May and I haven’t had one yet this month.
When I first noticed the dip in supply I assumed it was my cycle because that’s how things went when I got my period at 6 weeks. I had some spotting about 3 days into the dip and then nothing came of it, that was last Wednesday. This morning I’ve had some more cramping and spotting. I’m hoping my cycle starts so I can get my supply back.
Here’s my issue though- if my period is being weird because I’m breastfeeding and my milk supply is dipped because of cycle being weird…what can I do to break that? Like can I do anything to bring my cycle on so my milk can get back right?
Help me out!!!!
