Algae Issues

Hi Folks, I have a 6 gallon cylindrical acrylic aquarium in my office. Lately I've been over run with algae. I don't use the light because of this and have pleco in it. This stuff is tough, I cant scrub it off. Are the any suggestion on fixing this?
