How Can I Become a Navy Enjoyer

When I play HOI4 I really enjoying playing as semi-minor nations and then trying to make a significant impact when war breaks out, usually on the side of the Allies. My favorite nation right now is Canada. I can focus on building up my economy in relative safety and rush incredibly powerful fighters that help the allies throughout the war.

Now that the new expansion has come out I'd like to turn to two other nations I've had my eyes on, Australia and New Zealand. My thought is that I'd like to have a run where playing as one of those two nations I'm able to build up an effective enough navy that I prevent Japan from doing Island hoping and if I can get into war with them early enough, slow their conquest into China.

And while that seems like a cool plan, I have next to 0 experience with HOI4 naval warfare. Is there an old Navy meta I can look at or a youtube video that explains it? Is there another nation that may be better suited for what I'd like to do?
