Cambridge C1 Writing

It doesn't help you to write paragraphs that are far too long. This makes them unfocused with lots of unnecessary explanation. Good writers can make their points efficiently.

A 4-sentence paragraph can do this and get the clarity and control that you need.

Try this:

  1. Topic sentence

  2. Development sentence (your oint)

  3. Support sentence (your example)

  4. Consequence (which links to next point)

Example:

Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges facing governments today. Many countries struggle to balance economic growth with long-term environmental protection. Rapid industrial expansion often leads to increased emissions which harms quality of life, so while wealth increases, unfortunately health declines.

Learning how to write shorter, better controlled paragraphs will help you much more than trying to write long, confusing ones.

I teach students how to improve their writing for Cambridge C1 every week.
