Update: I stopped panic-swiping and my PvP is finally stable again (need advice on what to work on next)

Discussion

Quick follow-up to my earlier post about coming back after a break and feeling like I forgot how to play overnight.

I took a lot of the advice to slow down and treat matches like a timing exercise instead of trying to win neutral every two seconds. For a week I gave myself three simple goals:

  1. No random sidesteps from full screen

  2. Actually count to a beat before I vanish

  3. If I get priority once, do a short combo and reset instead of overextending

That routine helped more than I thought it would. The biggest change was noticing how often I panic-swiped the moment I saw any movement. Now I try to react to the animation instead of my nerves. I still get blown up sometimes, but when it happens I can usually tell why.

Where I'm stuck now is mid-range. Long-range fishing feels fine and I know the basics of tackle/strike, but that shimmy zone in the middle is where I either freeze or waste my vanish.

What drills do you use to build spacing and patience without falling back into autopilot? Any training mode settings, specific bots, or rules like no rising rush that work well? I only get short windows to play between kid stuff, so I need something I can repeat quickly rather than grind for hours.

Appreciate any tips.
