I used to think smoking freely was the end game
I smoked as much as I could for 8 or 9 years, and, it has been more than 2 years since I quit. I actually have some people around I can share about this, but, I had lurked this community extensively throughout the process as well. One of the posts explained so much to me, it was my wallpaper for so long (I still switch back to it when I hear someone going through similar stuff and keep it as a totem until they seem happy when I check them twice). So first of all, thanks a lot to everyone or everything which enables this community. I always thought that when I retire, I wanted to do some in house growing and maybe run a small shop in a legalized country. This belief held me back from quitting for years. Every argument on quitting or even taking a break ended at this plan. And after two years, I can say I got free. I intentionally stopped working after I got fired two years ago and used unemployment as an excuse to quit. Had to push through financially, but succeeded in taking a break. And surprisingly, not having a job while being sober rewarded me with free time. I was okay while I was smoking, kinda productive. But after I quit, I somehow found the energy to express myself and the experiences while combining with my retirement dream and made my own little game about growing and selling plants :) I simulated my retirement while reflecting it on something. Finally, I do not feel like I will be an old shopkeeper. I do not know what I want later in life, but definitely stopped trapping my mind considering smoking as the finish line. Over the last two years, I smoked on rare social occasions, I have to admit. Basically did not refused when passed. So, maybe I shouldn’t count myself as being 27 months sober but I definitely feel like it. In my honest opinion, not avoiding everything related to weed makes my perception of willpower stronger. I don’t know what the common opinion on this. I hope whoever wants to change their lifestyle or whatever their motivation for leaving can succeed. I left my dream behind in the process, and happy about it currently. Cannot even imagine regretting.
