Returning Player Question

Long rambling story short i haven't played since 2022 as i was mad about vaulting content. Decided to jump back in for old times sake and bought the complete set on steam. I have two pre-existing characters but i haven't played in so long I'm assuming it's likely easier and less confusing to start a new play through from scratch to re learn the game before jumping back in on my old characters? Any tips i should be aware of? I remember basically nothing about how it used to be back in the Red War forsaken days.
