Mountain Bike Trails for beginner kid?

What are some good, easy mountain bike trails in the area for a 9yo who is ready to move past riding around his neighborhood? I used to do a lot of mountain biking years ago in TN/NC/VA, but have been out of the scene for about 20 years and have no experience w/ N. AL trails. I'd like to hit some easy trails with my kid and see what he thinks, but don't want him to get discouraged with overly technical (for his age) trails. Where would you go for a nice ride in the woods w/ your kid?
