[MEGATHREAD] The Ultimate Guide to Adult Content Platforms & How To Use Them
If you've also been confused about adult content platforms, rest assure cause I guarantee after this read, you'd never be confused again.
I've talked to a lot of creators and almost all of them had a problem in this domain, and the concerning part is that it's so deeply rooted that they don't even realize it. If you're one of them, you land in one of these three categories.
1. Ignorance is Bliss - These are the ones who don't know about any platform other than OF, IG and TikTok. OF for direct monetization and the other two for marketing.
The thing is that you absolutely CRUSH it on OF with just these 3, they're the holy trinity of adult creators but there is a big difference between choosing them and only using them cause these are the only ones you know.
If you're the latter, you're leaving a LOT of attention and money on the table by being confined to these 3.
2. I think I know but I don't - If you dive a bit in the content space, you'd find models who DO know that other platforms exist outside the Big 3 and even some basic info on them.
like "Fansly is copied OF, Patreon is some kinda secret stuff, Reddit is for nerds etc"
These ones suffer not from ignorance but rather insufficient knowledge.
They don't know what the other platforms specialise in, what combination of platforms they can use, etc.
3. 99% completed - These are the people who already know about all the platforms, what they do, they've tried & tested them and know exactly what works for them.
If you're one of them, you probably already know most of the stuff that I talk about here, but you still might a thing or two so stick around.
This was not to demean anyone, we all start somewhere. The first step of learning is to accept that you need to learn so here we go.
Direct Monetization Platforms:
ONLYFANS
OnlyFans has been and still is the biggest player in the adult content creator economy. It started the whole thing and still carrying it to a large degree.
Let's start off with some direct numbers and practical info:
You make a $20 OF keeps $4, you get $16. You decide to withdraw it so you can finally go to movies but unfortunately you can't withdraw less than 20.
You work hard for another and FINALLY manage to make another $20, so now you have a total of $32. You finally decide to go watch that movie now so you request a withdrawal. Now you're hit with something called "Processing Time". Funds sit in a 7-day rolling "Pending Balance" before becoming available. Once you request a withdrawal, it typically takes 1–5 business days depending on your payout method.
If you have done the grave mistake of living in a high-risk region, withdrawals can take upwards of even 21 days.
Now you finally get your $32 after a week of 'processing'. Now you finally go to the theatre and watch the last show of the movie before it got out of rotation (lucky you). You go back home, open your OF account to grind on it again (no pun intended) and see -$10 in bright red color on your screen.
Annie are you okay cause you've been stuck by a chargeback.
A chargeback basically means a person paid you, saw you naked and then thought, "Nahhh, I've seen better" and decided to get his money back. It's a big problem in the industry but it exists and creators suffer cause of it.
Now, even tho, a lot of it sounded negative disguised in humor. These are actual processes on the platform, and you should know about them.
There are negatives, there are positives too (and a lot)
The BIGGEST plus point of OF is that people already trust it. It's the most trusted app of gooners. They already have their credit cards linked to it. So, they don't have to put their billing info again or trust a smaller website which MASSIVELY increasing the conversion rate.
It's like Rumble exists but everyone watches a video on YouTube cause that's the default video platform. Similarly, OnlyFans is the default gooning platform, which is not as glamourous as YT but it is what it is.
So, now you don't have to convince the person to trust the platform AND pay you too, they're already on the platform. You just have to make them choose you.
Another big thing about OF is that there is basic zero discoverability on the platform itself.
100% of the traffic that your page gets, it has to come from external sources. You're basically a digital marketer before a content creator here. If you can't promote, you can do nothing.
OF is also not suitable if you have some real fetishized content like extreme kinks, outside/ public content, BDSM or any of that kinda stuff.
Since, a really heavy part of your revenue would depend on chatting. Let's talk about the chatting system. The chatting system is actually really well made. You can handle multiple chats at once, send out mass PPVs, make vaults, organize your content pieces into scripts etc. If you want to make it even better, you can always use a third-party application like Infloww or Creator's Hero.
Because you cannot be online 24 hrs you can also hire chatters to handle your chatting. Using chatters doesn't break any rule/ policy of the platform. It's 100% safe to use helpers on your account but they do come with risk. Even when using a chatter, a 100% accountability lies on you. So, if your chatter breaks the rules during a chat, It CAN get your account banned.
A chatter is not seen as an employee but as an extension of yourself by OF.
A few additional things you should know that didn't fit anywhere are.
There has been a big rise in the free page and VIP page method. A lot of creators now maintain two pages - free one for the casual fans and paid one for the core ones.
[It is the mainstream technique atm. If it gets replaced by another one, I'll update it here]
Another thing is that although OF should be your main engine, it's always advisable to keep a Fansly or LoyalFans account just in case your OF account gets suspended or banned. So, it's more of a setback than a complete stop for you.
Last but not the least, let's talk about the earning potential. OF follows a power-law distribution, which means that the rich are disgustingly rich while the average is shamefully low.
The top 1% takes home a third of all the revenue while the top 10% pockets 73% of all revenue.
when you try to see the Maths, is essentially means that 90% of the accounts are fucking ghost towns, earning close to nothing. The median income is $180/month. The truth is that even tho being in top 10% sounds comfortable, that's still just $1k per month. The REAL money makers of the platform is a very small group, the top 1% are making $100k per month while the top 0.1% are making more than a million.
It depends on how you're approaching the platform. If you wanna do it full time to be rich, you HAVE to be in the top 1%, if you just want a side-income, top 10$ is fine but if you're lower than that. The effort is lowkey not worth it then.
To sum it up, OF is the BIGGEST adult content platform right now. People trust it, people spend on it, but you have to be an expert marketer in today's time to earn handsomely on it.
FANSLY/ LOYALFANS/ FANVUE
Other than OnlyFans, we also have some smaller platforms that kinda work the same way. I won't take too long on them, just a few sentences for each of them.
All 3 take a 20% cut, Fanvue takes 15% only for the first month.
The minimum payout on both Fansly and Fanvue is $20 and $50 on LoyalFans.
The one advantage of Fansly over OF is that it has a 'For You' page can get you some traffic from within the platform. It also has multi-tiered memberships, so you can have a free, basic and VIP level on a single profile. It's also much less restrictive on its content guidelines regarding certain kinks like BDSM etc.
LoyalFans has the advantage of having one of the best interaction techs in the industry. It's got easy per-minute billing for video calls, pay-per-message chat locks, and an integrated clip store. Great for creators moving from cam sites or heavy custom requests.
Fanvue has got built-in AI tools for auto translating messages, automated mass DMs, and heavy metadata tracking. Even though the translation and mass DMs don't stand out as revolutionary features, it does pay the quickest (fastest withdrawal process).
You shall know that these platforms also completely rely on external marketing. Even though Fansly has a 'for you' page, it's not to be relied on.
You should also know that most of the models who run these accounts, run them mainly as insurance. If their content borders OF T&Cs, it's required to have a mirror Fansly account. It's also for people who belong to countries where you can't make a creator OF account like Philippians, India etc.
These platforms also have a similar power-law distribution like OF, but the ceiling is much lower ($20k - 50k) just cause the total money is also much lower. It's rare to see $100k+ creators here. It can work especially well for you if you already have an audience on OF and they also join up here too. So basically, a mid-tier creator on OF can do pretty well here.
Community & Membership Platforms
PATREON
Patreon is what OF thinks it is. Patreon actually has a similar membership model that OF adopted but it was a completely SFW platform, they only allowed NSFW content in 2018.
The major way in which it differs from OF is that it's less transactional (no PPV, no tips) and more community and value based.
Patreon also used to be 100% bring-your-own-traffic platform, but they have implemented some big changes to massively improve internal discoverability—especially the explore tab. It's still not good enough to be completely relied on tho, I'd say that you'd still have to bring like 85-90% of your traffic from external sources.
The NSFW content guidelines are more permissive compared to OF—no CNC, hard BDSM, age play, minors, bestiality, public/ outdoor stuff, sexual acts under drugs or alcohol etc. Other than these most kinks/ fetishes, explicit photos and videos, nude and sexual content, and animated/ written/ audio content is allowed.
There is a critical rule of safe public pages tho. That means that everything explicit has to be behind a paywall and everything that's visible to the public—banner, pfp, previews and posts for free members has to be SFW. It's not really a big deal tho, you can still put on real suggestive images as banners and pfps until it's not straight out explicit.
LET'S TALK NUMBERS. Patreon charges a flat 10% platform fee. On top of the platform fee, we also have to deal with payment processing fee, currency conversion fee and the iOS trap (just ask your members to pay through browser and not the mobile app). After all this, your real home take away income is 83-87% which is slightly better than OF. You can set automatic withdrawals for any date and there is no minimum withdrawal amount atm.
On one side, Patreon is great if you have an existing audience somewhere, you want a more stable income source than OF, if your personality is heavily involved in your content. On the other hand, Patreon would not work if you have zero external following, you can't make money unless through chats and PPVs.
Patreon's income distribution is much-much less extreme than OF cause the users are really community-driven (Summertime Saga fans knows this well). The floor is $0 to 100, which top creators make $10-30k. It's extremely rare to see 6 digits on Patreon, even among the apex creators. The selling factor of Patreon is not the spiked but the stable income, once you start making a certain amount on Patreon, you can easily sustain it while OF income can vary HEAVILY depending on the month's traffic and PPV sales.
To sum it up, see OF and Patreon do not compete but complement. Use it as a secondary income source apart from OF; stable income from Patron and highly variable from OF.
Clip Stores & Passive Catalog Platforms
MANYVIDS/ CLIPS4SALE/ IWANTCLIPS
ManyVids is kind of like opening a store but rather than selling groceries, you sell your sex tapes (Kim Kardashian on steroids).
The single biggest advantage that ManyVids has over OF is its internal searchability. Unlike OF where you have to externally bring every single sub to your page, users can actually organically find you here. It even runs contests and promotions that give you extra exposure—themed video contests are held where the top sellers get front page features AS WELL AS cash prizes too.
Let's talk about content moderation now. Out of all the platforms we've talked about. These 3 are by far the most liberal ones, you can post anything on them until it's consenting and legal.
Another impressive thing about MV is the sheer number of ways to monetize—Individual clip sales, Fan Club Subscriptions, Live Streaming, Custom Video Order, 1-on-1 paid messaging, physical merch and VIP memberships.
Time to talk numbers. MV keeps 40% of the clip sales revenue and a 20% cut in other monetization techniques. The 40% cut is a bit brutal, but it has been the standard since over 2 decades now. The min withdrawal amount is $50 and takes 1-5 biz days to process.
It's good for internal discovery, niche content, getting some passive income from a library that keeps expanding. You should skip it if you content is too vanilla/ mainstream, the platform just favors niche content.
Another thing that's common in all three platforms is that only post here if you can make proper 10-30 min long videos. Short form doesn't sell there, you have to make long form videos with frames, lighting, script etc.
Clips4sale is the old school clips selling platform, the oldest of them all. It also has good internal searchability, but your content should fit in a category to be founded cause the discoverability is category based not algorithm based.
It is even more permissive than ManyVids, you can and are encouraged to make fetishized/ kinky content.
The revenue split is the same as ManyVids. A big limitation of the payout timings is that you can only withdraw on the 7th for the previous month's sales. So, you always end up waiting 30 days for the money you've already earned.
The UI is also a dated, especially when you compare it with ManyVids, you see a decade's difference.
Also, the platform is really true to its name. There are no other monetization methods other than direct clip sales.
To sum it up, if you're uploading to ManyVids. It takes nothing to also sell the same content here too, but I wouldn't rely on the platform completely for my monthly income.
Lastly, we have iwantclips, which is kinda a mixture of a OF chatting and ManyVids video selling. The platform caters a very specific type of audience — those who browse by category but also gets pulled from personality etc, basically the people who like boobies with brains.
You can sell clips here, but it also has a messaging support.
The commission rates look something like this — 20% on Tips/Tributes, 30% on Pay-to-View Messaging, and 40% on Clips & Store Content. The payout timings are a bit better than Clips4sale, you got bi-monthly check outs here, on 12th and 27th of every month.
It's a cool enough platform for creators in femdom, financial domination, or fetish niches. It might not work for you, like ManyVids, if you content is too mainstream/ vanilla. It might also not be for you if you don't wanna engage with your audience.
Before we look at the big picture, let's discuss the income trajectory. You start with 0 money and 0 clips on your page. You can expect $100-500 once you have 20-50 clips and some search visibility. Most people are stuck at this level. If you wanna reach at the next level i.e., $1k-5k/month, you need a deeper catalogue, a specified niche, and some form of strong traffic — either internal or external. The ceiling is at around $12 to 15k, while it may seem pretty low compared to OF, there are certain reasons for it which I'll not discuss here. The upside is that it's completely passive income, once you build some traction, even your 2-year-old videos would keep making money. It's more of a safety net than a primary income source.
To sum up all 3 platforms, use ManyVids if you wanna monetize in different ways, it has high traffic too. Be in Clips4sale if you want a pure create-sell-repeat experience and iwantclips if you want to engage with your fans more.
I'd personally recommend having a ManyVids account and pairing it with a c4s or iwantclips one.
THE BIG PICTURE: HOW THESE 3 FITS TOGETHER

|---|---|---|

Live Cam Platforms
CHATURBATE/ MYFREECAMS/ STRIPCHAT
This is the final source in the thread — the good old cam shows.
Firstly, let's understand how money works on cam sites. Viewers can't directly tip money to streamers, so they tip something called 'tokens'. The spread between what viewers pay and what you receive is the platform's cut i.e., roughly 40–50% depending on bundle size.
Starting things off with Chaturbate. If gooners were to have some kind of town hall, it would be Chaturbate. It is the biggest, oldest, and most visited cam site IN THE WORLD. Just in 2025, the site had more than half a BILLION, billion with a B, visitors. That's like 1 in every 16 persons, which is crazy.
The platform has good discoverability, it's hard to break-out from the bottom but the more viewers you get, the easier it gets to get even more. The snowball effect is real.
You can earn by public tipping (biggest contributor), private shows, spy shows, fan clubs, content sales, and referral programs. The platform's cut is approx 50% cause of the whole token ecosystem, it pays bi-monthly unless requested otherwise and minimum payout amount is $50.
The sites allow all kind of content unless it's legal and not super weird.
The site works really well for outgoing, energetic and in general charismatic people — people come for the body, but they stay for the person. If you can't hold attention, doesn't matter how hot you are, you will get slimed. You also gonna be philanthropic for it cause you have to give A LOT of free to the booners (broke gooners). It would absolutely not work for you if you were one, camera shy. Two, hate the free grind and three, only want passive income. Cam requires you to be present for long hours every day.
Let's look at MyFreeCams (MFC) now. The biggest difference between MFC and Chaturbate is that the former hosts only women while the latter one also has men, trans and couples.
You have to maintain a rank in MFC. The more points a profile has, the higher it rises in the main directory. The irony is that you need tokens to get the points. So, you need to earn to be visible and be visible to be able to earn. Breaking through the lower pages requires A LOT of grind.
Rest is basically the same as Chaturbate, the site does give some prize money to its top 1000 performers, that's good quick cash.
Finally, let's talk about Stripchat. It's the youngest of the 3 platforms, Stripchat's internal discovery is strong and growing, with category browsing, search, and algorithmic promotion of active streamers. Stripchat edges ahead of Chaturbate slightly for users who want a cleaner interface and better discovery tools.
Surprisingly, Stripchat has as high if not higher volume than Chaturbate in some months.
Platforms' fee is also 37-52%. Payments are processed on Tuesday on every week, and the minimum withdrawal amount is $50.
You can definitely try it out if you want the cleanest, most modern UI out of any cam sites. Another interesting and exclusive thing on Stripchat is the strip shows, even if a very small part of your audience pays a premium for it, that's a huge amount.
Let's tell you the earning potential of cams, then I'll give you a table about the income possibilities of every platform and then we'll end the thread.
On the entire thread, I genuinely feel like only the apex cam girls can compete with apex OF girls. It's like the Gojo vs Sukuna of adult content creation. Even the floor is $1000-1500 just if you're consistent. A bit established models can earn anywhere from $200-500 per day while the top performers report exceeding $30k monthly. The top creators earn in 6 figures, but it requires genuine consistency, content ideas and loyal audience.
Even though the floor is much higher than OF and the average is a lot better. If we're talking about pure earning potential — OF still takes the cup in this.
It's the simplest of all. You go live -> you earn. Don't go live -> no earnings. Creators also report a burnout quick if they don't manage a healthy work-life balance in the cam biz.
Platform Combos
Beginner Stack — OF + Chaturbate
This is the OG, tested and proven combo since the medieval times. You use Chaturbate to find viewers and have an active income while casually mentioning OF every once in a while. Your loyal gooners would convert to OF subs. Also, since workload is pretty low during the nascent stages of your OF, rather than wasting that time. You can utilize it on Chaturbate to find subs and make some cash.
Once your OF starts to pick up pace, it gets really hard to stream AND manage your OF on top of it, so it becomes inevitable to either stream less or hire external help. Nonetheless, if you have zero following and consistency is your trait. This combo would work exceptionally well for you.
Clip Farmer — OF + ManyVids
OF is again your core income here through PPVs and subscriptions. ManyVids runs parallel as your clip store. Every video uploaded to ManyVids sells indefinitely without you doing anything. This way you serve two kinda buyers — keepers and transactional.
The merit of this model is that you'd never be overworked and the more content you make, the bigger your portfolio gets, the higher your income goes. You'd be spending most of your time on OF while getting some passive income from ManyVids.
More Stable than your Mental Health — OF + Patreon
If you are a NSFW lifestyle, aesthetics creator who has a personality beyond tits. This might be the best model for you. Both platforms are subscription based but cater two different branches of the same tree — one is the transactional, morning gooners of OF and the second is that personality driven, amateur gooners of Patreon.
You can post BTS, Q&As, personality-driven posts etc on Patreon for a subscription price lower OF. You can kind of treat is like OF is the product while Patreon shows the making of that product and the person behind it.
Niche Player — OF + C4S/iWC
If you're a ball knower, the niche player, fetish creator then this combo is hard to beat. OF is again the core of your fanbase, your general subscriber base while C4S or iWC serves the dedicated fetish content buyers. C4S/iWC is particularly great for the branch of audience that fuck with your content and don't wanna pay for a subscription but would happily buy individual clips.
The plus is that people who choose to buy clips rather than a subscription actually end up spending more than the average OF subscriber and if you have a strong hold on your kink/fetish content, you won't have to worry about spikes and valleys. You'll build a pretty loyal fanbase.
Get Rich or Die Tryin' — Chaturbate + OF + ManyVids
This is combo 1 but on steroids. The three platforms serve three different kinds of audience - active, recurring, and passive. You already know the drill, Chaturbate gets you viewers and an active income, OF is for the general fanbase while ManyVids acts as the ultimate passive income builder from past catalog.
The workload is definitely heavier than anything before. Just the burden of keeping track of all three platforms in your mind is a tiring task but if you're the one who goes all out and wanna treat it as a full-time business rather than a side hustle. This is the path that I'd recommend.
SCALE! SCALE! SCALE! — OF + Fansly + ManyVids
If you're a somewhat alright performing OF model, you can add Fansly as a parallel subscription platform with basically no extra work. Just repost your OF content there annd if you're feeling generous, you can roll out some Fansly exclusive content every once in a while. ManyVids is for buyers who don't want a subscription at all.
The General Truth
I highly recommend that you should know your strengths, weaknesses, work ethic etc and select your combo or even make your own based on that but know that for a combo or even a single platform to work, the perquisite is THE CONTENT. If your core product is not good, nothing will work. Platform strategy can only amplify what's already working, it cannot magically fix everything. If you are having problems understanding your audience, their preferences, you should work on fixing it before you start optimizing your platforms.
CONCLUSION
This is the end of the thread. I'll keep adding on it depending on how the landscape changes, we'll keep it updated. If you read it so far, make sure to join the community, help some people and if you want some counselling, you can always reach out.
Peace
