Anyone else found 50mg of Vyvanse/Elvanse worse than 60mg?

Medication & Side Effects

I was diagnosed with ADHD almost 3 months ago and have been taking Elvanse ever since.

I started with 30 mg, but after 3 weeks I was only feeling about 20% of the effect and the duration was only 4–5 hours at most, so my dose was increased to 50 mg.

On the first day of taking 50mg, I once again had a severe crash. I have to say that this higher dose of 50 mg didn’t make much of a difference for me; after only a few days, my ADHD symptoms were much more pronounced again, the effect was maybe 30%, but the duration had increased to about 6 hours. The worst part was actually that I had a lot of emotional outbursts, was very irritable and annoyed and panicked easily on 50 mg.

After 3 more weeks, my psychiatrist then increased my dose to 60mg. I’ve been taking 60 mg for 3 days now and I have to say, I didn’t have a crash on the first day of my high dose; I can handle my emotions and stress better, I’m much more focused (hope that doesn’t completely fade again) and I feel much more driven. I know that the actual effects won’t be as noticeable in the next few weeks, but why was 50 mg so much worse for me than the 60 mg is now, even though the dose is higher now?

Did anyone of you guys experience the same?
