Getting into more extended fasts

Check-in

Lost about 40 lbs over the course of a year doing IF, developed some health issues that had me convinced I absolutely had to have regular meals to take my medication with, put about 15 lbs back on. The extra weight combined with some personal drama has made me hate the way I've been feeling lately, so I have gone back to fasting. I usually do 14-16 hours IF a few times a week just because of how my work schedule works, but I just managed almost four days with no prep. I think I could have gone another 24 hours without an issue because I wasn't having any hunger pangs, but I ran out of electrolytes at work and the water dispenser was broken, I was getting dizzy going up and down stairs and ended up breaking to drink a little of my coworker's gatorade. I have a planned outing tomorrow night anyway, so I decided to break for real to get any digestive upset out of the way now.

what i learned this time? I need to dirty fast. a tablespoon or two of fat in my coffee in the mornings is enough calories for my meds to work without the consequences of taking them on an empty stomach. That combined with a diet coke during my lunch hour at work staved off the worst of the shakiness that I couldn't seem to punch through past the 48 hour mark (I've done a handful of 72s before, but my sweet spot was always 36 in the past, but it was all water-only fasting).

Electrolytes: what I need when I'm at home vs when I'm at work is very very different. At home I drink a liter of electrolyte water in the morning and one in the evening (with a liter of plain water sipped through the day) and am fine, but at work I need 2 or 3 liters just of electrolytes. My job isn't very physical, but I'm on my feet and walking for most of my 12 hour shift.

My goal is to hopefully go about 7 days at once before september, going to start every monday and go as long as I can, hopefully stretching the hours a little each time. I have about 30 more lbs to lose, although I'm primarily fasting for the increased mental clarity and decreased inflammation.

I really enjoyed how easy it was to move after about 24 hours in, and how my brain fog just...disappeared! I'm hoping to figure out how to replicate that feeling and still be able to eat once I lose the weight that allows me to fast safely.
