Spectrum modem/router combo doesn’t work with Cisco meraki

Just moved to area with spectrum. Internet works but vpn meraki device having issue. Spectrum told me I had to change to do port forwarding but my employer tech team said not needed. So am stuck. Will just replacing the router work ?
