Is this game a successor to Baldur's Gate 1 and 2?

Hello guys. I am a massive fan of the Infinity Engine games – Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale. I always look for games that are PRECISELY like them.

I have been playing this game. I am level 5. I really really liking it because it's just like the Infinity Engine games.

But I was curious, do you guys think this game is intended as a successor to them? Or not really? Like were BG1 and 2 consciously chosen as an inspiration? Or not?
