Anyone under 40 with reading glasses or lower strength glasses for using a computer?

The area I live in sucks and has no decent options for anything so I've been having issues with my vision for over a year now when trying to read.

I was told by a local optometrist that I can't have positive diopter lenses before I'm 40 but I absolutely cannot read comfortably anymore especially on a computer and get the worst headache and nausea when trying to.

Around three weeks ago, I had my eyes tested due to nausea and headaches and it turned out my five year old prescription of -2.25 and -2.75 was too strong. They reduced it reduced to -1.75 and -2.25, which was fine for two weeks but then after using the computer again I got the worst headache and nausea again and could not put my new glasses on again.

I went to get retested after four days of not wearing glasses, she wasn't believing me first that my prescription was too strong but was willing to reduce my vision to 70%. She then relaxed my eyes somewhat with positive diopter lenses and then the same lenses that I had 70% vision with suddenly gave me 90% vision.

Turns out everyone was just upping my prescription all my life with no regard to my actual eyes.

I am still waiting on the new glasses, I don't even dare to put here how weak they are and I am not happy with the 0.50 difference that was left between the two eyes and wary of what happens next, where to go to get my correct prescription.

I still completely struggle with reading and it's not good. I need to be able to read, need to be able to use computers, and I cannot wait until I'm 40. I am unsure what direction to go with that. Could I simply need distance glasses but with a reduced diopter? Could I possibly need weak positive diopter lenses so my eyes don't get so strained after reading?
