Queries regarding HANZE and FONTYS uni's. Which one is better and should I even consider studying in them.(Want to pursue Mechanical engineering and I am a student from India)
Hi, I'm from India and I've received offer letters for Mechanical Engineering from both Hanze and Fontys.
Before anyone mentions it, I already know that they're Universities of Applied Sciences (HBO) and not research universities (WO), so I'm not confused about that part.
What I'm trying to understand is whether choosing an HBO has any real impact on career opportunities or future prospects. I've seen a lot of Reddit posts where people seem to discourage internationals from attending HBOs, and I'm wondering if that's actually justified or if it's mostly an academic prestige thing.
A few questions:
1.If you had offers from both Hanze and Fontys today, which would you choose and why?
2.How are Mechanical Engineering graduates from Hanze/Fontys viewed by Dutch employers compared to graduates from research universities?
3.Does graduating from an HBO limit career growth, salary, or future opportunities compared to a WO degree?
4.How easy is it to move from an HBO Mechanical Engineering degree to a research master's later on?
5.Which university has better industry connections, internships, and hands-on projects?
6.Are there any current students or recent graduates here who can share their experience and whether they would choose the same university again?
Would really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people studying or working in the Netherlands and that would anyone even consider these universities or should I leave Netherlands as an option for my higher studies.
