The BEST Pet Insurance for Dogs.
I've been doing a lot of research on this.
I'm looking at getting Embrace. I'm not sure if paying extra for exams and prescriptions is worth it. My friend has had it for years and she loves them. I'm comparing it with Trupanion and Pets Best. I'd like to get exams and prescriptions covered but the premium goes up. It's crazy now to start at $80-$100 for a puppy these days. I don't know how people can afford more than one dog.
EMBRACE
Unlimited Reinbursement Coverage, $500 Deductible, 90% Reinbursement Percentage
$85 which includes the extra $11/month for exams covered.
Prescriptions would be $12/month extra.
---------------------------------------------
TRUPANION (through Chewy)
Unlimited Reinbursement Coverage, $500 Deductible, 90% Reinbursement Percentage
$88 which includes medications- I assume this means prescriptions.
----------------------------------------------
PETS BEST
Unlimited Reinbursement Coverage, $500 Deductible, 90% Reinbursement Percentage
$81 which includes the extra $7/month for exams covered.
Prescriptions would be $12/month extra.
-----------------------------------------------
The main difference is that if you get Trupanion through Chewy, the deductible resets every year. But if you get it directly through Trupanion, the deductible doesn’t reset annually - instead, it’s per condition. That means you’d have to meet the deductible amount for each condition (like dental, digestive issues, etc.), but once you reach the deductible for a specific condition, you’ll never have to pay it again for that same condition.
Trupanion uses a lifetime per-condition deductible rather than the traditional annual deductible used by most other providers. This means you only pay the deductible once for any specific injury or illness. Once met, Trupanion pays 90% of eligible costs for that condition for the rest of your pet's life.
