What if it rains on Sunday?

First timers to any races for my son and I. I think it is forecasted to rain after 3pm. What typically happens? I emailed them and was told that if they moved the race to Monday and we cant attend, we just lose out on our ticket. Do they hold off until an hour before the rain to announce or wait until race time?
