Two Job Offers

Employment Question

Hey everyone, my wife got a new job recently and we relocated to a new area. I’ve got a few years doing service work under my belt and have been applying to some local HVAC companies and am wondering if anyone can give me some good advice on which job offer to take

  1. Commercial Service Tech, Lennox NAS
I see pretty mixed reviews on this one, I think a lot of it may come down to how your branch is run and I’ve honestly gotten on great with the manager. This job pays better, has better benefits, and in the slower season has a more flexible schedule. I do see a lot of negative reviews on here but a good amount of positives as well. They seem to invest in education a lot but seems like after a few years you top out in pay unless you want to get into management. I’m still pretty green so getting my own van and doing exclusively commercial work is enticing.

  2. Service Technician Apprentice, Local Company (Owned by SEER Group)

This was honestly a surprise I applied months ago as a helper and they just called and offered me a service tech job but more entry level. Which is fine, i want to learn as much as possible without having to job hop. Compared to the Lennox job this one pays less, worse benefits but has a commercial, industrial and resi division so I see myself sticking with them longer term and has higher end potential. Similar education and training to the Lennox job but they have a wider range of service and more opportunities for hands on learning. Again, worse pay and benefits though and I’m not super keen on working for a private equity conglomerate, but lennox ain’t small either so that may be a wash.

Just looking for any insight and advice from some of you more seasoned folks that have been at a few different jobs, I feel like both are a good opportunity especially in a new city for me but my inclination is to take the better pay and benefits and job hop when I get some more experience/top out. Thanks!
