Unconventional ways you got confortable on your skateboard?
Hi, I'm 25f and I just got a board a week ago. ordered some more ppe after I ate shit in my backyard (trying to walk - push idk) and I was looking for some tips on how you guys got more comfortable on your board.
For now I'm just trying to get on and off on carpet, then tiles, because I'm too embarrassed to go outside (also there is not a lot of smooth ground where I live and work, although I am taking notes on all the skateparks near me!) slight regression too, I wanted to start pushing to get it out of the way but now I am really set on just existing in the board.
I need to work on my balance and being on one foot but fear is a huge barrier for now, maybe there are ways to exercise that? I'm kind of glad I fell last week because at least now that's out of the way but at the same time I don't want to seriously hurt myself. I learned how to fall when I was riding horses but you would fall on sand... which now looks like a pile of feathers.
I'm also looking for some skating mates in my area but no one has a board. I saw a lot of people recommend having friends to start with but mine are not interested.
I'm also curious about if and how you would plan your beginners skating sessions. Do you go into it with the intent of having learned or gotten closer to a goal? I also saw people recommend one hour of skating a day?
