Splint vs Night guard
I went to the dentist due to a broken tooth, he said I needed night guards for bruxism, quoted me a night guard, had the fitting, after all the appointments when it was already order he gave me a form for a splint. Up until I had no clue of differences. The splint came top with a ramp straight away when I tried felt so awkward in my mouth I couldn't even close my jaw my bottom teeth would touch on that ramp it feels like I knock my teeth on a rock when I try to close my moth. First night I couldn't even sleep. I notice a feeling of a bite change a lot of pressure on my upper teeth and my jaw. I went back to review he polished it feels more comfortable now but still the same feeling and the wrong change bit feeling in the morning is awful, painful and it has caused me a lot of stress.. funny that he mention bruxism worsen with stress...
I have an appointment in 2 weeks to reassess...
Some things to note my bite 100% I have never had issues with it.
He mention there is an orthodontic lower (at this point I don't know what is a splint or a night guard?) It doesn't seem like I can choose the quality material what will be best for me, as I would prefer most comfortable durable natural night guard just to protect my teeth from griding.
He also mentioned that the ramp would make the splint last longer... Said the wrong bite is temporally didn't mention risks or how long I will have to wear...
Does anyone have a similar experience? Or advice on that?
Thanks heaps.
