The stock remotes that come with these Android boxes are an absolute joke (Build quality is trash)
Is it just me, or do the default remotes packaged with these streaming boxes feel like they’re made out of recycled plastic forks and cheap takeaway containers?
I literally dropped mine from the sofa onto a thick, fluffy rug last night not even a hard floor, mind you and the battery cover flew straight into another dimension. I spent twenty minutes with my phone flashlight hunting under the couch just to find the spring. On top of that, the main directional pad is already sticking and half the buttons require you to mash them with full thumb force just to register a click, and I’ve only had the bloody device for about three weeks.
The line-of-sight on the IR sensor is completely cooked too. If you aren't pointing the thing at a precise 90-degree angle directly at the front panel of the box, nothing happens. God forbid there's a coffee mug or a tissue box on the table blocking the path, because then you're just sitting there aggressively clicking the power button like a lunatic.
I’m completely done dealing with this cheap plastic e-waste before I end up smashing it against the wall. Has anyone actually bought a solid, third-party air mouse or a backlit remote that seamlessly syncs with basic Android setups?
Ideally, I need something that has decent weight to it, actually illuminates when the room is dark so I stop hitting the wrong buttons during movies, and doesn't shatter into five pieces the second it slips off an armrest. Drop some actual hardware recommendations or links below because this stock one is going straight into the bin this weekend.
