New job is 200 mile commute...
Hello! For starters, I live in TX, I am 24f and married to hubs 30m.
So, I just got offered a job teaching. It's just shy of 100 miles one way, about an hour and a half from where we live. I drive a Mustang, just got it in December as my Christmas gift / wedding present / graduation gift. It's not paid off, I owe about $24k on it, steadily paying it.
Anywho, my advice needed is this. We signed a lease for an apartment before I got this job. We were moving forward as if I would not get a job, since I had submitted so many applications with minimal interviews and such, so if hubs needed to cover most of the bills, he could. That being said, we put about $2.5k into this apartment in deposits and fees, most of which are nonrefundable. Should we move closer to my job to a town about 45 minutes away from each of our respective jobs, and get an apartment in a less nice area than we live in, or should I just commute the full 1.5 hours each way? Trade my car, or just get a beater off FBMP for a few grand?
Our combined monthly income will be about $8k. I am concerned about the maintenance on my car, as well as the mileage and time length of commute. TIA
