Ragtime Acceptance Speech

I’m watching the Tony Awards and Ragtime has just won the best revival. Why on earth did Lear absolutely LEG IT up to that stage and start the acceptance speech before anyone else from the cast even made it up to the stage?

Did she get told they were short on time or something? If so, did she find out she won before she won? I’m so confused!
