BBA graduate struggling to find finance roles — is it okay to focus on CFA + skill building instead of taking sales jobs?
I recently graduated with a BBA this month and I’m currently preparing for CFA Level 1 (Feb attempt). Right now, I’m not finding many relevant finance opportunities. The roles I’m getting are mostly sales or sales-type jobs rather than anything related to finance/investment fields.
Because of this, I’m considering focusing on CFA preparation along with building my profile through internships, certifications, and finance-related projects instead of immediately taking up roles that don’t align with my long-term goal in finance.
My question is whether this is a reasonable approach or a mistake to avoid these kinds of jobs at the start if they are the only immediate options available.
TLDR: Is it okay to focus on CFA + profile building instead of taking sales-type jobs when no finance roles are available right now?
