Property Manager refusing to break lease after offering to, due to personal injury occurring in this space to the person I am co-leasing with
So my husband and I are in NM, Bernalillo County, we started renting office space in April 2026. During May alone my husband was there injured 2x in this space, long story short, the roof caved in 3 weeks apart of each other due to water damage not taken care of (negligence). He went to the office on Tuesday and noticed additional damage, so we notified property management and they offered to break the lease, reimburse deposit and June rent. While we were waiting for the documents to sign to release us from the lease, My husband decided to seek legal counsel for these injuries. This morning I get a message from her saying that since he is seeking counsel she will not be releasing us from the lease, and it will remain in full effect and since he has representation she cannot communicate with me. Since he is the one being represented she cannot communicate with him but she can still communicate with me right? And also proceed to break the lease and commit to what she said she would do. Can she do this to me legally?
