Can a mix ruin speakers?

Question

Stick with me here, I am relatively new to all of this, so forgive me. I do have an interesting conundrum.

I've been mixing some rehearsal audio for my band to try and learn some basic mixing. Nothing serious.

Now, on every device I listen to, the mix on it sounds pretty good. The ultimate test (my shitty car stereo), however, is insanely distorted, crackling. When I listen to professional stuff, it's fine.

Although the pro stuff sounds better, now I am starting to notice the distortion and crackling on some of it since I played my mix.

I dont know if I just never noticed it before, or if my mix actually hurt my speakers somehow. Just curious if this is even possible or if there's something fundamental im missing here.

Just for clarity. Ive got a pretty old vehicle with no aux for the stereo. So im using one of those Bluetooth to radio converter things. Im almost positive thats a factor
