Thoughts on the recent unrest

Discussion

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I'm worried about everything going on here at the moment. I'm far from racist and I'm certainly not prejudice, I like meeting people from different countries and learning other cultures etc.

We have people coming here that don't work and are happy to reap the benefits, free housing, etc. In my opinion we have enough spongers here without adding more. There are enough people homeless, struggling, without taking more people in, for example trying to get a doctors appointment is a nightmare so how can taking people in from third world/ war torn countries help this ?

I think most would agree, if people come here and work and pay in to the system they are more than welcome, I have friends from African countries and south east asian countries who have had to jump through hoops and spend a lot of money to get and stay here but people can come over here and get everything given to them. In what world is that fair?

We are very welcoming people in my opinion and sometimes I think we are being far too soft. Look at Australia, they can pick and choose who they take in, you need to have approx $5000 in personal savings, looking people with specific skills for a strong labour force. I also think it should be compulsory for all migrants to learn our language.
