Should I file Sleep Apnea

Should I even file for sleep apnea as primary? I was in shape in service but wife and battle buddies always told me to go to dr due to scary choking and snoring while I slept. got out of active service years ago (currently on reserves) and was recently about a year ago with sleep apnea through private dr. only problem is I’m very over weight when I was diagnosed. I’ve lost some weight since but I’m still overweigh. I don’t have any other evidence other than buddy letters I can get from wife and former battle buddies. I don’t want to waste VA time if it’s not worth it. and I am SC for other things but nothing that can get secondary to. no mental health rating neither. thank you i appreciate all advice and insight.
