Using Philips hue in a 1952 house without rewiring: what should I watch out for?
I’m hoping to start a Philips Hue install in my 1952 house tonight and trying to do it carefully instead of just throwing smart bulbs into every fixture.
So Far for the setup I ordered:
- hue Bridge Pro
- 4 4 packs of the Hue Essential Bulbs (16 hue bulbs)
- 1 55-inch Hue Play gradient strip for a Samsung Frame for the living room
- Essential 16 foot light
The Wifi is in the living room so will be setting up the bridge there.
The house has classic old-house lighting weirdness: pull-chain ceiling fans, questionable switches, little ceiling lighting so some lamps carrying entire rooms, and fixtures that sometimes turn themselves on or off alone.
Any gotchas from people who’ve done hue in older houses?
Any products I didn't buy that I should?
Are the switcthes and dimmers worth it?
Has anyone signed up for the $2.99 Samsung Philips hue Sync TV app?
