Any Suggestions for Quirky & Artsy Shops/Bites?

Hi! Okay, so I’m (34F) a single mom of two small boys, and am visiting Chicago from Minneapolis with my parents & boys next weekend! I am usually one who loves planning and crafting an itinerary, however my capacity is quite depleted these days. Wondering if I could ask for some recommendations for folks’ favorite spots!? My mom, a creature of habit, booked our hotel near the Magnificent Mile, however I’m happy to venture out of that area too!

I’m pretty eclectic, and love the arts. I love buying from local artists/ makers, I enjoy perusing art fairs, and am a sucker for a good thrift shop. I’m hoping to have an afternoon/evening to myself one of the days to focus on self care. I’m hoping to check out Big Bud Press as I used to frequent their online sample sales. Any other recommendations for boutiques/shops that would potentially meet my fancy?

I also love checking out local food scenes! Doesn’t have to be Michelin Star (although, I used to enjoy that life), but something yummy and feasible for my family and me. My boys have pretty unpredictable palettes and my dad has young onset Alzheimer’s so I’d appreciate some recommendations that are relaxed & low pressure. Although we have some limitations, we enjoy all cuisines! Any places that you think would be a hit?
