birth control as a last resort?
this is my first post here because i'm literally at my wits' end with trying to deal with my pcos which has resulted in a huge mental collapse today. i got diagnosed last july, so 11 months ago, and i've been on a strict low-glycemic, anti-inflammatory diet since december, so about 6 months, along with taking inositol daily and walking, sleeping more, less screentime, etc. while this has reduced my acne and brought my period back, my skin has been flaring up recently and scarring so badly (pitted rolling scars which microneedling just isn't touching). to add onto that, i'm now getting my period every 2 weeks, so completely opposite end of the spectrum to not having one at all pre-diagnosis/diet. i've tried metformin and it just made my skin so much worse along with other side effects, so now i'm completely at a loss for what to do. i've been repeatedly denied spironolactone but don't know if that would work for me anyway because of my overactive bladder and am considering birth control as a last resort to give my skin a break from all the acne, but also worried about worsening insulin resistance/making it hard to conceive when i eventually want to have kids. so basically i'm looking for any advice from anyone who's experienced anything similar or has any idea what i could do? all my doctor ever says is birth control so it's looking like a last resort for me. i'm considering either yaz or slynd but super worried about weight gain and depression as side effects. honestly don't know what to do :(
tl;dr: after treating my pcos with diet and lifestyle, i've gone from no periods to periods every 2 weeks and still struggling with acne and acne scarring. should i go on the pill?
