I wonder what you all think of this?but my opinion is the following.

"I think there is a misunderstanding regarding Fang Yuan's character and what the righteous path actually represents. Fang Yuan genuinely has no ego or pride; even if he did, he would be more than willing to discard them if they became a shackle to his pursuit of eternal life. The reason he decided to choose the demonic path was simply because it aligns better with his philosophy. For example, when discussing the footless bird, he showed that he prefers a riskier but more beneficial path over a safe but less rewarding one.

Furthermore, if Fang Yuan had chosen the path you suggested, I doubt he would have ever reached Rank 9. He simply wouldn't have had enough talent, resources, or time to become a Venerable. Even if he somehow did manage it, he would have been the most mediocre Venerable in history, rather than the Heaven Refining Demon Venerable—the one with the most potential of all.

Besides, the righteous path isn't actually that great. They are essentially just hypocritical versions of the demonic path. They won't just freely hand over cultivation resources; instead, they will manipulate, abuse, and exploit you—much like real-world governments. They do not provide a safe, growth-conducive environment, and they have no reason to watch you grow stronger, especially if they don't have firm control over you.

In conclusion, both the righteous and demonic paths have their own unique challenges and strengths. Fang Yuan chose the demonic path simply because it aligns with his philosophy and maximizes his strengths."

I recently saw some comments asking "why didn't fy choose to become a righteous path cultivator in his next life?"
