What am I missing here?
(Posted on another forum as well, but it’s sparsely visited.)
Does anyone know if too much VA can also raise blood pressure?
My blood pressure has been insanely-high and doctors and cardiologists can’t seem to figure it out for me. Taking my meds (also changed meds), exercising, losing weight. Still high.
Labs were recently 74 mcg/dl (flagged as out of range) and I experienced/am experiencing a lot of commons documented symptoms for the past year or so.
One of my early telltale signs was weight gain, peeling hands and feet (not painful, but sheets of skin coming off my soles and palms back in January). Doctors never made a connection to Vitamin A nor seemed concerned about any symptoms. They in fact just put me on more antidepressants and basically told me to get out of their office.
I had high-ish intake of VA (but not crazy high) from beta-carotene supplements + 1 teaspoon of Rosita’s cod liver oil daily for over a year. I am now a firm believer that cod liver oil and beta-carotene in high amounts is also just as dangerous. My daily intake of VA according to meticulous records of my nutrition that I keep in Cronometer ranged in average of 1800-2500 mcg per day.
I never connected the dots, but I always felt (feel) sick, aches, bone pain, abdominal pain, joint pain and generally just feel unwell. Most days in just feel like crap.
I’ve been off ‘the juice’ for over 3 weeks now, and slowly (very slowly) feeling better (especially joints and bones) but here’s my issue. On an extremely low intake I feel good for a few days, and then much worse again.
Is this because my body is dumping large amounts of VA to make up the difference I’m not getting from diet? Also, I need to clarify, that my low is not that low (under 150-300 mcg daily). Some days it’s under 100 mcg.
Anyhow, any insights are appreciated on length of time to detox, is my ‘low’ low enough, or anything else you might see that I’m not seeing.
Thanks in advance.
