What do I need to start making my own Air Strafing System?
My plan for the next 2-5 days is to just replicate air strafe systems from any games, learn the stuff, and then make my own (or maybe just copy and implement in a game in the future). BTW, these are the games I want to replicate air strafe system from:
- **Arsenal** (*from ROBLOX, obviously*) * You keep the velocity you have before you jump and then air strafe by moving your mouse horizontally.
- **Valorant** * This one is a level higher because unlike Arsenal, inputting A-D keys actually does something. * Accelerating to max velocity is quick and easy.
- **Megabonk** * Third person A-D air strafing. * Satisfying, easy, smooth acceleration.
- **Source Engine Games** * The popularizer of this mechanic. * I don't think source engine air strafing is something the average Roblox players would love but I might as well remake this as a form of exercise.
I am very much used to learning Roblox Studio stuff with AI but this one is something that even free-plan Codex (yes, I'm broke) fail to properly do and I also want to learn this particular mechanic/system from scratch anyways.
I'm aware that I can just watch and read stuff on YT but I'd like to do this the least boring and quickest way by learning from better scripters, especially those who have tried or/and made a proper system.
Honestly, I don't know the specific stuff I want to learn because I don't know the things I don't know yet (duh), but I think **tips, clues, and step-by-step instructions** on how to replicate each game's air strafing system should greatly help.
I would appreciate any help from you guys as long as it's relevant. Thanks!
