Looking at Guard Apache route

Hi all, finally got my flight physical approved. My packet is basically complete. LORs, SIFT, all that good to go. I believe I have a strong packet.
I have one final obstacle to work through. I want to fly 64s in the Guard, but I live in Florida (no Apaches).
I'm told living out of state and trying to meet the minimums is neigh impossible.
The nearest Guard Apache unit, to the best of my knowledge, is in South Carolina.

Is quitting my civilian career and taking a job in SC the only way to feasibly make this happen?
Is giving up the prospect of Apaches and taking another air frame the only way to remain in FL?
