We ain't seeing a general direct til Feb at the earliest.

Discussion

For as long as I have been watching directs live, I have noticed a pattern emerge from Nintendo with their directs, they alternate.

Sept 2023, the one that revealed princes peach showtime, the thousand year door remake, and wonder: general.

Feb/mar 2024, the one that showed epic Mikey rebrushed: partner showcase.

Summer 2024, the one that gave us brothership, echos of wisdom, and metroid prime four: general.

August 2024, the one that was combined with an indie world and made us think the switch 2 would be announced in September: partner.

March 2025, the one 6 days before the big switch 2 direct and gave us tomodadchi and rhythm heaven's return: general.

Summer 2025: partner.

Sept 2025, the one that gave us the new Yoshi, fire emblem, and pokopia: general.

Feb 2026: partner.

June 2026: the one that happened just last Tuesday: general.

If this pattern I have noticed holds, then the September direct will be a partner showcase, meaning we will need to wait until February or march for the next general. We will likely still see game specific presentations and shadow dropped overview trailers, as usual, but nothing big.
