Anyone else accidentally turn remote work into an actual business?

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but curious if anyone else kinda stumbled into this.

I started out just doing remote freelance work and figured I’d keep things simple forever. Send invoices, get paid, repeat.

But over time it turned into recurring clients, people asking if I had availability for bigger projects, maybe bringing in help, working across different countries, and suddenly I’m realizing I probably should’ve thought more about how this is all structured.

I’ve been going down random rabbit holes trying to understand how people handle this long-term, especially if clients are international.

Maybe I’m overthinking it way too early lol.

For people who’ve been remote for years - when did you realize “okay, this probably needs to be more official”?
