Divorce settlement agreement

Location: Mississippi

I am in the process of getting a divorce in Mississippi. I want the house my husband has agreed verbally settlement agreement in process. Attorney suggested a quit claim deed but reading online it seems that will only transfer the title to me. Is there anyway to get husband name off the mortgage without having to refinance? Or what is the consequence of leaving him on the mortgage. I will take over payments and all expenses of the home.

Second question how do I word or ask for in the settlement agreement to retain disabled veterans benefits. I do not want money but to able to have USAA insurance and use Navy federal or other non monetary benefits veterans spouse benefits.
