Beginner help with Kotak-Supermoney FD-backed CC.
Hi everyone!
I’m a 21-year-old student with no current income, and I’m looking to build my credit rating.
Current Cibil: 726
Current Experian: 783
Credit Age: 1 month.
Monthly Income and Employment status:0 and unemployed.
Monthly Expenses & Spending Patterns:
Can range from ₹600-₹6000 ( we get electricity bill quarterly here)
Mostly spent on mobile recharges, electricity bills and groceries.
Preferences: Just want to build up credit rating for now.
A couple of years ago(2023), I briefly took an IDFC Bank/Flipkart BNPL option but closed it within days. I have not tried to get any credit instruments since.
At one point, my CIBIL score was 756, but it dropped to 726 about a year ago.
Now, I’m considering an FD-backed credit card. I’m leaning toward the Kotak Supermoney (basic version) with an FD of around ₹6,000 to ₹6,500 to get the physical card free.
My question is: Should I open a Kotak 811 account before applying, or can I do it through the Supermoney app?
I have an UCO Bank account (3 years) and an Axis Bank account (1.5 years).
Also, within Kotak, do I need the standard 811 savings account, or would they require the Super Savings account? The Super Savings account has fees, and since my monthly spending won’t exceed ₹10,000, that’s a dealbreaker.
Are there any additional charges I should watch out for, or any flaws in this plan?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I do apologise in advance as i might not be able to reply quickly.
