Should I accept a minimum wage accounting job if I have been unemployed for ~3 years but have an accounting degree and 1 year of big 4 experience?
I was let go after 1 year at a big 4 firm and have been unemployed for ~3 years due to personal reasons. I basically learned nothing from my big 4 job, so my accounting knowledge has been unused for >3 years.
Should I just apply to & accept in person minimum wage accounting jobs? Should I just apply to & accept minimum wage non-accounting jobs? Should I hold out until I get a reasonably paid or remote accounting job?
I'd rather work a remote job (otherwise, I'd basically only have 1-1.5 hours of free time on weekdays to do anything), but I don't know if it's worth holding out until I get a remote job given that my ~3 year unemployment gap will only get larger.
For context, entry level accounting related jobs in my area are usually around 50% more than my state's minimum wage. My state's minimum wage now is around half of what I was making at an entry level job at a big 4 firm ~3 years ago. My living expenses are currently taken care of.
